For the Conservatory in Arnhem we are looking for a:
Project Officer Diversity & Inclusion (0,4 fte / 16 hours per week)
Key responsibilities
· Facilitate events such as masterclasses, workshops and other community building moments focusing on topics related to both D&I and music.
· Working closely with the other team members to organise projects and events part of the curriculum.
· Collaborate with heads of departments to take steps towards more diversity, inclusion and accessibility.
· Evaluate projects and offer recommendations for further development.
· Facilitate students in hearing their voices regarding D&I topics.
· Stay informed of best practices and developments in the field of DEI.
The academy
ArtEZ Academy of Music is one of the largest conservatories in the Netherlands and collaborates with a large number of conservatories within and outside of the European Union. Some 800 students and 300 teachers and staff learn and work at our locations in Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle. At these three small-scale sites, the atmosphere is open and informal. There is a lot of personal attention, and the lines of communication are short. At the same time, students benefit fully from the facilities and possibilities of a large conservatory.
The Conservatory in Arnhem is home to four departments: Jazz & Pop, Composition for Film and Theatre, Music Theatre and the Master of Music. These departments offer bachelor and master courses in both Dutch and English. We also offer a preparatory course.
The department
You will be working as part of the project office. The project office is responsible for the organisation of all project-related education, masterclasses and events such as the graduation and open day. You will be working closely with two other project officers, the heads of department, the technicians and the education office. Your main focus will be on organising events and workshops that promote more diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) for students and staff. As we feel it is important that DEI is part of everything we do, you will also be offering support to education projects more generally. This way you will get to know the conservatory and our students and staff quickly. You will also be working closely with the D&I team Theater & Dance and collaborating with the Conservatory in Zwolle.
Your profile
· You love music, education and working with students.
· You have a good understanding of current research and methods in the field of DEI and are willing to keep learning with an open and curious mind.
· Preferably you have experience in higher education and/or Music.
· You have experience in planning and organising events.
· You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English, with the ability to navigate complex and sensitive conversations. A good level of Dutch would be helpful.
· You are collaborative, empathetic and proactive.
· You demonstrate cultural competence, understand intersectionality, and show organisational sensitivity.
What we offer
You will be given a temporary contract for one year. There is currently no funding to extend beyond this year. The gross monthly salary is minimum € 3.311,92 and maximum € 4.376,46,- (project officer B, scale 8) on the basis of a fulltime 36-hour working week. In addition to an informal and open working atmosphere, we offer attractive terms of employment in accordance with the CAO-HBO, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a 13th month and good study and development opportunities.
